Ein Mobiltelefon (meistens Handy...) ist ein tragbares Telefon, das über Funk mit dem Telefonnetz kommuniziert und daher ortsunabhängig eingesetzt werden kann. Die zehn größten Hersteller von Mobilfunkgeräten weltweit waren im zweiten Quartal 2010 Nokia, danach folgten Samsung, LG, RIM, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Apple, HTC, ZTE und G?Five.

Smartphone

Ein Smartphone ist ein Mobiltelefon, das mehr Computerfunktionalität und -konnektivität als ein herkömmliches fortschrittliches Mobiltelefon zur Verfügung stellt. Aktuelle Smartphones lassen sich meist über zusätzliche Programme (sogenannte Apps) vom Anwender individuell mit neuen Funktionen aufrüsten. Ein Smartphone kann auch als ein kleiner transportabler Computer (PDA) mit zusätzlicher Funktionalität eines Mobiltelefons verstanden werden.

    Einer Prognose der Management- und Technologieberatung Mücke, Sturm & Company zufolge wird der Umsatz mit Mobile Games in Deutschland in den kommenden Jahren deutlich zulegen. Wichtigster Umsatztreiber für die Spieleanbieter ist der Bereich Freemium. Bei diesem Geschäftsmodel wird das Spiel selber gratis angeboten. Umsätze werden durch kostenpflichtige Zusatzleistungen generiert. Der mit dem Verkauf von Spiele-Apps erzielte Umsatz wird dagegen in den kommenden Jahren deutlich zurückgehen.
