FarmVille

Das Spiel FarmVille ist ein Browsergame von Zynga in Form einer Echtzeit-Farmsimulation. Das Spiel ist auf der Seite des sozialen Netzwerks Facebook verfügbar. Inhalt des Spiels ist es, einen eigenen (virtuellen) Bauernhof aufzubauen und zu verwalten. Zudem wird man mit aktiven Spielern, die sich im Facebook-Freundeskreis befinden, verglichen.
Das Spiel wurde am 19. Juli 2009 veröffentlicht; bereits Anfang September 2009 verzeichnete es rund 35 Mio. Nutzer pro Monat und war damit die beliebteste Facebook-Anwendung.

Zynga

Zynga ist ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen, das Browserspiele betreibt, die innerhalb Sozialer Netzwerke, wie Facebook und Myspace, gespielt werden können. Die bekanntesten Spiele sind FarmVille, Mafia Wars, FrontierVille, CityVille, ZyngaPoker, Adventure World und CaféWorld. Die 50 Spiele werden von über 215 Millionen Nutzern im Monat gespielt (Stand März 2011). Einnahmen erwachsen dem Unternehmen aus dem Verkauf virtueller Währungen, die innerhalb des Spieles für virtuelle Güter oder schnelleres Vorankommen genutzt werden können.
Zynga wurde im Januar 2007 von Mark Pincus gegründet. Das Unternehmen beschäftigt über 1300 Mitarbeiter, der Umsatz lag 2010 bei 850 Millionen Dollar.

Minecraft

Minecraft ist ein vom schwedischen Programmierer Markus Persson alias Notch entwickeltes Computerspiel, in dem der Spieler in eine sehr große, zufallsgenerierte 3D-Landschaft versetzt wird. Diese Welt besteht fast vollständig aus Würfeln, die sich auf unterschiedliche Weise bearbeiten lassen. Minecraft wird in die Kategorie Open-World-Spiel eingeordnet und aus der Ego- oder auch der Third-Person-Perspektive gespielt. Am 20. Dezember 2010 erreichte das Spiel die Betaphase. Im Rahmen der Minecraft-Convention MineCon wurde am 18. November 2011 ein Meilenstein als Vollversion veröffentlicht. Mit jedem erreichten Meilenstein wurde der Preis angehoben, um einen möglichst frühen Kauf zu fördern.

Ego-Shooter

Ego-Shooter (gr. und lat. ego = "ich"; engl. shooter = "Schütze" bzw. "Schießspiel") oder First-Person-Shooter (FPS) sind eine Kategorie der Computerspiele, bei welcher der Spieler aus der Egoperspektive in einer frei begehbaren, dreidimensionalen Spielwelt agiert und mit Schusswaffen andere Spieler oder computergesteuerte Gegner bekämpft. Die vom Spieler gelenkte Spielfigur ist menschlich oder menschenähnlich. Ego-Shooter ist eine Wortschöpfung aus dem deutschen Sprachraum, im englischsprachigen Raum spricht man von First-Person Shooter.
Die Spielwelt wird durch die Augen der Spielfigur wahrgenommen, eine Ausnahme stellen oft Zwischensequenzen dar, welche die Rahmenhandlung erzählen, aber nicht Teil der Interaktion sind.

Third-Person-Shooter

Third-Person-Shooter (abgekürzt TPS, von Englisch third person, "Drittperson" und shooter, "Schießspiel") sind Computerspiele, bei denen der Spieler die Welt aus einer Perspektive beobachtet, die im Normalfall hinter der Hauptfigur positioniert ist (Drittpersonansicht) und in denen Fernkampf ein wesentliches Element des Spiels darstellt.
Der Name des Genres gilt als seine Definition: Als Third-Person-Shooter gelten alle Spiele, bei denen die Perspektive hinter der Hauptfigur positioniert ist und in denen die Verwendung von Schusswaffen im Mittelpunkt steht. Damit sind vor allem Max Payne, Freedom Fighters und Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven typische Beispiele.
